Software Engineer (Backend)

We are looking for a Software Engineer (Backend) to support the development, integration, and maintenance of backend systems across client projects. This role is designed for offshore delivery, where you will work as part of a distributed team supporting international stakeholders and product teams.

This role suits someone who is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable working within structured development environments. You will be responsible for building backend services, supporting system integrations, and ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability across applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs
• Build scalable systems that support business and client requirements
• Integrate third-party services and APIs
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across backend environments
• Write clean and maintainable code aligned with best practices
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA, and product teams
• Support deployment and system performance
• Maintain documentation for systems and workflows
• Work with offshore and client-side teams to deliver solutions

Requirements

• At least 3–5 years of experience in backend development or software engineering
• Strong experience in at least one backend language (Node.js, Java, Python, PHP, or similar)
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and integrations
• Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments

Preferred attributes (optional)

• Experience working in offshore or outsourcing environments
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience supporting client-facing development projects
• Strong understanding of performance optimisation and scalable system design
• Ability to work across time zones and collaborate with international teams
